Every week in Northern Ireland, another three children, teenagers or young adults, aged between 0-24 years old, are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer Fund for Children understands the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis and treatment can have on the whole family and that beyond the essential clinical care there is a family life that needs to be rebuilt.
Cancer Fund for Children provides practical, financial and emotional support to in the family home, in the community and on the hospital ward. Their team of experienced Specialists help families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives, and they support them through life, both during and after treatment, and sadly in some cases, bereavement. |
On the 3rd of January 2012, at the age of just 17, we lost our great friend Dariush Mehrtash to cancer. When only 14, Dariush was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer which affects one in 1.2 million.
Our cycle has been inspired by the strength and determination of Dariush to fight cancer, and to also keep those around him laughing and smiling throughout everything. Dariush will be our source of motivation for this cycle, and bring an element of light-heartedness to this bum-destroying challenge! |
On the 31st of August, 7 novice cyclists are taking on a 450 mile cycle from Belfast to Paris.
We will endure hills, mountains, and a large coastal route in both Ireland and France until we finally reach Paris to cycle up the Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe and arrive at the iconic Eiffel Tower. |
